SEE MY MOTORHOME WEBPAGES: http://www.motorhomefulltime.com/lifestyle/kids-feature-motorhomes-aims-attract-young-families https://www.facebook.com/motorhomefulltime Whereas the thrust of this publication is aimed at the retiree, the demographic which is currently the largest user of motorhomes, Weinsburg is attempting to attract families to camping and as such has introduced the Cara Kids concept which in some ways aims to turn the motorhome into a type of nursery. Weinsberg, which is owned by Knaus Tabbert, sought the assistance of German trade publications to identify what features they would require to make their vehicles more family-friendly. At the Dusseldorf trade fair in 2014, Weinsberg presented its 700 DG version in an internal conversion designed to attract families with young children. The first noticeable feature is the security designed to stop young children (and others) from falling out of bed in the form of nets. To get into bed, kids have the choice of using the ladder, or the choice they are most likely to take, some grips to climb into bed as though they were scaling a mountain face. Once in bed there is plenty of space for toys, teddy bears and the like in the form of plastic bins. This is thanks to the fact that as children are not as tall as adults, the extra space can be put to good use. Cleaning is made easier by removable panels on the seats and there is also a slightly raised edge to the table which should take care of minor mishaps. There are also cup holders at the table built into the wall. The toilet has a step to help children access it. Weinsburg have also introduced some of these ideas into their caravans too. With similar ideas being a theme of the CCS trade show in the UK aiming to encourage more young families to holidays on the road, there may be a market in this. However as any motorhome user will know, the amount of families one meets at campsites is much less than the amount of couples travelling.
