The Chinese Government has warned that the suspension of the AVIC project could affect trade relations between Kenya and prospective investors from China.
Speaking during, the Africa Tech Challenge Awards held in Nairobi, the Economic & Commercial Counsellor from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China Guo Ce stated that the losses have been immense, resulting in 4.2 million dollars. Nine Chinese Contractors working on the AVIC project had been arrested earlier this month on charges of building without approval from the National Environmental Management Authority.
