Chinese PM arrives in Moscow to discuss bilateral relations

Wide of parade STORYLINE Chinese Prime Minister, Wen Jiabao arrived in Moscow on Monday for a two-day visit that coincides with the close of "Year of China" in Russia, an event aimed at boosting trade and other interaction. As he stepped off the plane, Wen was greeted with an official military guard of honour. On Tuesday, Wen is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov for talks on economic cooperation and will also participate in an official closing ceremony of China's "Year of Russia". China looks to energy-rich Russia to help fuel its economy. Chinese leader Hu Jintao visited Moscow in March when he and Russian President Vladimir Putin pledged to expand economic cooperation, which has lagged behind thriving military and security ties. Russian news agencies reported Wen had indicated relations with Russia are a priority for China. Officials and business leaders are expected to sign 10 agreements on cooperation in fields ranging from nuclear power engineering to small and medium-sized business, the ITAR-Tass agency reported. Wen previously visited Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Belarus.
