沖縄本島の南部に位置する南城市。 南城市には、遥か昔から受け継がれてきた神聖な地が多い。 聖なる地は、限られた人だけしか足を踏み入れることが出来ない場所もある。 その中で斎場御嶽（せーふぁうたき）は、琉球王国最高の聖地と言われている。 御嶽の中には六つの聖域があります。 琉球王国時代、最も大きな祭事に聖なる砂を「神の島」久高島からはるばる運び込まれ、その砂を御嶽全体に敷き詰めました。 斎場御嶽は、琉球王国や聞得大君の聖地巡拝の行事を今に伝える「東御廻り（アガリウマーイ）」の参拝地として、現在も多くの人々から崇拝されている。 Nanjo City, located in the southern part of the main island of Okinawa.
