Piece: Eastern Prelude No. 3 "Bang Chhun-hon"
Composer: Teng Yu-Hsien
Arranger: Christopher Norton
Pianist: David Chang
This famous Taiwanese melody is known in Chinese as 望春風 (Wang Chun Feng) and the English translation in the Eastern Preludes Collection is given as "Longing for the spring breeze".
Christopher Norton writes, "The music upon which this arrangement is based is often used to accompany a highly-regarded text by Taiwanese poet Li Lim-chhiu (1909-1979). It tells the story of a young girl waiting hopefully for the man she has fallen in love with to visit her. She hears a sound at the door, but is disappointed when she realizes it was caused by the wind."
Recorded in the historic Shakespeare & Company bookstore in Paris.
