"A La Luz De La Luna," by Anton, sung in Spanish, is performed by Mexican coloratura soprano Consuelo Escobar de Castro-AND HER HUSBAND, CARLOS CASTRO-- Edison Diamond Disc 76013. Consuelo sings solo on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrjV1tPF5gM Despite my best effort, I found little information on the soprano other than what Jesus M. Lopez. a noted record collector, emailed to me in July 2006. He wrote that she was a great opera star more than a Zarzuela singer. In 1919 she performed several operas at the Arena of the Plaza de Toros and the Teatro Esperanza Iris in Mexico. Together with Enrico Caruso, she was a leading singer of the Adolfo Bracale Opera Company. She performed in Central America, the Caribbean Islands, and South America—mostly in opera. Late 1940 she moved to Puerto Rico where she died and was buried. IN CLOSING, all the de Castro Diamond Discs in my collection were purchased new from dealer stocks. The Edison Laboratory Model phonograph playing the record also was bought new, in the crate, many years ago. Can ANYONE provide birth and death dates....or any other biographical information? NOT INCIDENTALLY, I know absolutely nothing about Consuelo's husband, Carlos. ALSO, for what it's worth, I purchased this Edison phonograph "new, in the crate," many years ago.
