Coronation Street is celebrating its 10,000th episode with an hour-long special. Affectionately known as Corrie, the broadcast will open in the same way as its first; with two girls playing a game before two women are talking in a shop. The cobbles of the nation's most famous, and best loved street, have been a window into British life since 1960. Pioneering for its time, the first episode featured northern voices and life in a way never before seen on television sets in the United Kingdom.
