Creating an Open Source Simulation Platform for the development of new ships: Rolls-Royce Marine, DNV GL, Sintef and NTNU are heading a Joint Industry Project aimed at exploring the opportunities that come from working with so called “digital twins” – a digital copy of a real ship, including its systems. Working with digital twins enables the optimization of a ship’s design, construction, operation and maintenance in a safe, sustainable and cost-efficient way over the entire lifecycle of the vessel.
