Broadcasters Gol have released images from Saturday's game at San Mamés in which a visibly upset Cristiano Ronaldo makes his way back to the subs' bench after being taken off towards the end of Real Madrid's 1-2 win against Athletic Club. According to Gol, the player was seen mouthing: "Why me? F**k off" (¿Por qué a mí? ¡Foda-se!").
Cristiano didn't direct his words at Zidane, whose outstretched hand he shook moments before, but when the player was on his way to the bench to sit with his team mates for the remainder of the match. Perhaps part of his frustration was at having yet to score at Athletic's New San Mamés - one of the few grounds in Spain where he has never found the net.
It's not the first time that Cristiano Ronaldo has reacted badly to being substituted. Something similar happened last season in Madrid's away meeting with Las Palmas when he was brought off with the score at 1-2 on 72 minutes. The Portuguese star clearly wants to complete the full 90 minutes of every game - something which Zidane suggested in his post-match press conference, might not happen.
