Crocodile Bites Hand Off! Doctors Reattach Appendage; Worst Animal Bite?

When I first saw the picture of a hand in this crocodile's mouth, I thought for sure that they guy didn't survive and that they would have shot the croc. As far as I know, the crocodile wasn't put down, and the veterinarian is doing well as well. I am impressed with the turn out of this incident. The crocodile, named Chu Chu, severed Mr Chang's forearm at the Shaoshan Zoo in the southern city of Kaohsiung when the veterinarian tried to retrieve a tranquilliser dart from the reptile's hide. Mr Chang had failed to notice that the crocodile was not fully anaesthetised when he stuck his arm through an iron rail to medicate it. Zoo workers were able to retrieve Mr Chang's forearm after shooting two bullets at the crocodile, causing it to drop the appendage in shock. The 17-year-old reptile is one of a pair of Nile crocodiles kept by the zoo. The species, listed as endangered, is rapidly disappearing from its native African habitat.
