Over congested network hubs, packet loss, etc. None of these settings will fix that. Closing youtube or other browser tabs... c'mon. We aren't idiots. /facepalm Changing your settings for 128 tick will do nothing if you're playing on a 64 tick server. Changing max ping will have little effect if you have issues with bad routing, packet loss, congested ISP traffic in the first place. See point 1. Here are some tips that will actually help if you have high ping/ spikes/ latency issues/ packet loss Don't use wifi. Obvious but it matters. Connect directly to your modem/ router with an ethernet cable. Wifi can add 10-100ms of latency. Upgrade your router. Most ISPs provide a router modem combo with bad software. You can but them in "bridged mode" (google it) and provide your own upgraded router to one with settings that can use Quality of Service to provide packet priority to your computer or game. This one is the most important. Look how to check the line signal quality to your cable or dsl modem. Learn what dB or signal noise levels are the norm for your connection type/ isp. Having a line signal that is on the edges of acceptable will cause packet loss, high latency and of course... lag in game. Making changes to those three things will have the most, real world impact on your ping.
