Simon Sedlmair runs the farm together with his brother and parents. In 2010 they chose to expand the farm from 150 to 300 dairy cows. The main reason for increasing the size of our herd was that we now have to support three families on our income,” says Simon Sedlmair. “So the main objective was to make more profit.” The expansion was made possible with the help of new milking equipment from DeLaval. They decided on a double 18 heavy duty herringbone milking parlour. The system is very efficient – 160 to 180 animals pass through the system per hour. It takes only 1.5 to 2 hours to milk all the cows.
