D6 Conference 2019 Highlights

Every parent knows the struggle of disciplining children. It never gets easier—and sometimes, discipline has the boomerang effect of intensifying resistance from children. In Day 2 of the D6 2019 Family Conference, keynote speaker Tim Kimmel shared that the key element needed to create a positive response through discipline is: relationship. “Rules without relationship will lead to rebellion. Relationship without rules will create resentment, because children need boundaries.” “The best parent to learn from is God! Just as God disciplines us to teach us security, value and purpose, as well as how to live with strong hope—these are the same lessons we were meant to teach our children.” “We were not meant to merely correct their outward behaviour. The Bible teaches us that man looks at outward appearance, but God looks at the heart.
