a video of two of my favorite artists. the music-David Garza is a Texas alternative musician active since the late 80s. His total output of the last 20 years is some of the finest music created outside of the mainstream, and, along with many excellent bands from Texas during the 90s era, still woefully under the radar. This version of "Float Away" is from the album "The Four Track Manifesto", and a different version was found by me originally on his earlier album, "This Euphoria". The paintings- Morris Louis belongs to the school of painting known as the "Colorfield" Abstract Expressionists. His main contribution was bringing a serialized sensibility to the stain painting style founded by Helen Frankenthaler. Louis was very little known in his own lifetime, and died of lung cancer apparently from prolonged exposure to the still (at the time) mineral spirits bound acrylic paint that permeated through his tiny home studio. Louis' paintings have a preseance unlike any other artist I've ever encountered. When seen in a museum, a Morris Louis painting has a radiant quality similar to seeing a stunningly beautiful woman in a crowd of miserable, defeated people in a hurry to get somewhere that they can't wait to leave once again. Enjoy!
