Dementia: Tactile Sensory Memory Box Activity

I took all the sharp objects out of a pretty little sewing basket that was donated to our office. This video shows me conducting a 1 to 1 activity with one of our residents with Dementia who always sits at a far away table and will never come participate in our group activities. I noticed watching this video later that I asked her some open-ended questions. Shouldn't have done that with her level of functioning, The resident will better be able to respond when asked a question giving them two choices as answers. Earlier, before I started taping she had told me she had sons..listen as near the end of the video she says she had daughters. This is Dementia. The entire activity was a delightful 15 minutes that she smiled all the way through and ohhhh how her eyes lit up when she would take a new sewing tool out of the box. I love my work.
