Depressed suicidal dog kills itself by jumping off fourth floor balcony - TomoNews

TAICHUNG, TAIWAN — Amy was a one year old stray who was adopted when she was only a few months old. Mr. Wu and his family moved from the countryside to Taichung city, located in central Taiwan, a few weeks ago and their pet dog Amy struggled to adjust. Mr. Wu and his family lived on the 4th floor of their apartment complex and Amy hated it. The first week the family had moved into the apartment Amy dislodged an air conditioning unit and jumped from the opening. Luckily, she landed on the second floor awning and was uninjured. The Wus had the air conditioner repaired and replaced the opening with a locked window. Not that it was enough to stop Amy. Amy’s second attempt was when she ripped out the window mesh and once again jumped down to the second floor awning. On Amy’s third attempt she destroyed the lock on a window and jumped, despite having been leashed to the balcony railing. Amy dangled below the 4th floor by her neck, before she finally slipped free from her collar and fell once again to the 2nd floor awning. Mr. Wu and his family decided to try keeping Amy in a room on the other end of their apartment, but the determined pooch managed to climb out the kitchen window and jump from the kitchen balcony. This time Amy fell 4 stories and slammed into a parked car, she was unconscious when other residents discovered her. The vet was unable to save her. Mr. Wu explained that his family tried to make Amy happy, but were at their wit’s end as to how to help her.
