This clip is what launched my film career - "Diary Of A Tired Black Man" - it was released on DVD this Feb. 3, 2009. I created Viral Video Marketing For Independent Film way back in Jan 2006! This Is The 1st Time YOUTUBE Was Used To Market Something! READ THIS: "First time filmmaker Tim Alexander actually created and pioneered viral media marketing way back in 2006 on YouTube as a new platform when he posted the very first viral video on the channel to promote his film ‘Diary of a Tired Black Man’. YouTube was less than 1 month old when he posted a 3 minute clip that changed the world and media marketing as we know it. It was studied by many, and it has grown into both a cottage industry and a corporate phenom. YOUTUBE HISTORY: In November 2005, YouTube received funding from Sequoia Capital. In December 2005, YouTube officially became a corporation and launched. In October 2006, Google came knocking and bought YouTube for $1.65 Billion. VERIFIABLE PROOF OF ALEXANDER’S CLAIM: Tim Alexander posted a 3 min. sample clip of a film that had not been shot yet called “Diary of a Tired Black Man” on January 6, 2006 when YouTube was less than 30 days old. From that clip he built a website and forum which attracted millions of views and comments. He then raised a budget over 6 weeks from the excitement by setting the country on fire with controversy and desperation to see his film. People are still following his play book today. It had never been done before him, international marketing without a single penny spent by a studio or the filmmaker to promote a film to international success. It aired on ShowTime, Cinemax and The Movie Channel over 300 times and it was a best seller in WalMart and Amazon for 6 years. It was also pirated around the world in countries where it was not officially released. It is estimated to have been seen by over 43 million people world wide in total. It was truly the FIRST VIRAL VIDEO EVER!" It is a simple story about the complex relationships between Black Men and Black Women. It follows the life and relationships of a successful black man as he tries to find a happy place to rest his heart. It's an interesting ride into the reality of black relationships that a lot of people will relate to, and a lot of people will learn from. See the full 1:47 movie on iTunes and Amazon.com or buy the DVD at WalMart.
