Dirt-Cheap Homemade Wire Clay Holders & Other Targets

I haven't been able to work much on my videos lately because my graduate research has been monopolizing my time. Hopefully, things'll slow down in a couple weeks so I can get back to my 870 T&T series, and some other videos I have planned. In the meantime, I decided to set aside some time and get a video online, if only to focus on something other than engine performance curves and fuel consumption maps for a little while. So today, I'm going to show you how to make some cheap and easy clay holders and other targets out of simple utility wire. This wire is just cents per foot and can be used to make all kinds of targets for shotguns, handguns, rifles; even bows and pellet, BB, & airsoft guns. And since it's just bent wire, you have a ton of freedom. Feel free to play around and figure out what works best for your purposes, you can always unbend the wire and try again if needed. The wire can also be reused and made into different targets, and for any type of do-it-yourselfer, it's just plain handy to have around the house. So go ahead, pick some up and experiment. These performed much better than even relatively cheap store-bought clay holders, and stood up to birdshot and handgun FMJs admirably, considering their cost & construction. And even if one of these holders does take a direct hit and can't be bent back into shape, replacing it is cheap and easy. Make and bring along some spares, or just toss some extra wire and a pair of cutters in your vehicle or range bag. Unlike crappy commercial clay holders, you won't be out much money if one of these breaks, especially since the pieces are still good wire. Bend a new holder into the end if a piece is long enough, use them to make something different, or save them for a future project. I hope this gives you some ideas or inspiration. If you come up with your own design, leave a comment and tell us about it. Better yet, upload a how-to & demonstration video, and then post a comment below with a brief description and a video link. I'm planning at least one more video on wire targets, showing some advanced designs. If enough people respond with their own concepts, I think it'd be cool to include a "best-of" section showcasing the most clever ideas, with video and channel links.
