Another example of the value and versatility of the "Diatonic Chord" harmonica, in this case providing the background rhythm for Dr. Bertram Becher, playing the Seydel 1847 Classic in "Easy 3rd" or "Do It" tuning. John Schaman, harmonicaMD, lays down the rhythm and chord pattern using the diatonic chord harmonica (also known as the harmonicaMD Medical Harmonica - www.harmonicaMD.com). This harmonica plays 8 chords, F, F7, C, C7, G, G7, D, & D7, and is hand-made for harmonicaMD by the craftsmen at Seydel, the oldest harmonica manufacturer in the world (first starting harmonica manufacture in 1847). It is made of the absolutely best materials, including stainless steel reeds. It was designed to allow non-players to learn quickly, sound musical, and provide the designed lung challenge required for pulmonary benefit. Dr. Bertram Becher, Seydel harmonica virtuoso, demonstrates "Easy 3rd" or "Do It" tuning, an alternative tuning particularly useful for playing in "minor" keys, usually achieved by playing in "3rd position" on a standard Richter-tuned harmonica. Bertram is improvising without rehearsal or preparation.
