Levies, or voluntary contributions asked of visiting ships to support local seafarers' welfare organizations, are a common practice in ports around the world. Based on research sponsored by ISWAN, Dr. Olivia Swift gave this presentation at a special event organized by ISWAN and NAMMA preceding the CMA SHIPPING 2014 conference in March 2014.
