Dragon's wedding / Municipal Theatre « Liubomir Kabakchiev » - Bulgaria

Performing arts: nonverbal performance based on classic Bulgarian folklore drama *************** High above the village, in the cave, the Dragon lives. Everyone in the village runs away from him and prays the Dragon not to climb down. Only Marta-the herbalist girl is not afraid of him. From far back the Dragon is in Marta's heart. Every evening, at full moon, she is hiding and wondering for the future. But this evening the Moon tells her a new secret-The Dragon twines a wedding wreath for Cena .... Cena is the most beautiful maid in the village. Her brother and her father- wealthy men in the village- are guarding her from visiting working -- bees and banters. They are waiting for the most suitable wooer for Cena. Dizzy from anger and pain, Marta decided to change the Fate and to hinder the love between the Dragon and Cena. In the middle of the night, Marta- the herbalist enters in Cena's home and persuade her father and brother to marry Cena soon and to drift apart Cena from the Dragon. And that's why, smiling and delighted, Cena invites her friends, her brother invites the swains to a working-bee in the masters' home. Among games Cena's engagement is prepared. But she is disobedient, her soul is revolting, because someone else decides instead of her. And her heart is already elsewhere. She catches and puts Dragon's wreath on her head and becomes his bride. The Earth and the Sky open and the Dragon climbs down to take his bride.
