These are just a few of the ab exercises I do to keep my mid section looking right. I try to switch it up and keep things interesting when it comes to my abs (mainly because they are already decently developed).
If you're just starting out though, you should treat your abs like your other muscles. Get a routine for them and track your progress to ensure you're getting stronger. I suggest doing 6 - 8 sets total twice per week. I usually throw mine in after Leg day (only because that's when I do my dead lifts and hitting abs afterwards seems to untighten my lower back).
