Ear Pulling - The Noisy Brat - HALEY JOEL OSMENT, KAITLIN HOPKINS , ALAN RUCK

Young Andrew (Haley Joel Osment) is a very lively, noisy and annoying child who needs the firm discipline of his mother (Kaitlin Hopkins) - she has perfected the use of ear pulling to (almost) bring the recalcitrant boy to his senses and do his daily piano practise. You can judge the results for yourself. Andrew's father is played by Alan Ruck. This is from the 1998 TV comedy movie, "The Ransom Of Red Chief", based on the story O. Henry, and it looks like Haley Joel Osment thoroughly enjoys himself in the high-spirited role of a brat. Personally, I don't like the film and cannot recommend it to a general audience, although perhaps some kids may enjoy the "conflict with grown-ups" aspect of it. Incidentally, I think there is an anachronism in this edited clip - when the boy takes off the roller skate, the strap appears to be secured around his ankle with a Velcro clasp; this film is set in the early 20th Century, Velcro was not invented until decades later.
