Part 21 of 48 Locations: OsTown Mean Street Jungle Rhythm Part 1 Ventureland With Animatronic Goofy restored, he can resume cleaning up OsTown, and he'll also open up Ortensia's house to you. It's been locked up for a while, meaning something really bad has happened to Ortensia. Oswald, in fact, has feared the worst. It seems some of the Bunny Children have returned to Ortensia's house before Mickey got there, and they're kind of...depressed. Mickey's got to save Wasteland! Oh yeah, and we find Ortensia's locket in there, which Oswald has been searching for. Well, that's the obvious choice. Goofy suggests taking it to the museum. I'll bring it to Oswald; I'm sure it'd make him happier. It seems Oswald has been carrying a health upgrade for Mickey, which increases Mickey's HP to 6. If you paid attention in the previous video, you'll also see that there is a health upgrade in the ice cream shop as well. Having obtained all of Goofy's parts, Mickey purchases it to increase his HP to 7. And remember Gilda's Axe? I remember spending a while looking for her in Mean Street, only to find out she's hanging out near the bridge in OsTown leading to Mickeyjunk Mountain. She sure likes to live dangerously, considering she's standing at the edge of a drop into a pool of Thinner. Mickey also gets more Power Sparks. There were 2 I didn't show; I removed that footage by mistake. Oh well. The ones over here are as follows: 11 and 12. I don't even remember what I did. Sorry about that. 13 . From Oswald for befriending the Blotlings who captured Markus 14. From Big Bad Pete for making Petetronic come to his senses Anyway, with all that done, let's head to Ventureland! The projector to take Mickey there is "Jungle Rhythm: Part I." This stage has no bottomless pits, but it can be something of a pain to navigate because the platforms here move faster than we've seen before, and all of the coconut trees are constantly raining coconuts onto te hapless creatures. The apes don't seem to mind though. It's not that difficult, though because Ventureland is one of the towns Mickey can repeatedly visit, he'll have to run back and forth through this stage a lot. "Jungle Rhythm" (1929) puts Mickey as a big game hunter going after an elephant. His shotgun fails him, so he decides to put together a song. True to the callous disregard for animal life as is someone who hunts elephants for ivory, he rounds up the animals and uses them as instruments. No wonder this only went on TV rarely. Ventureland is a village in the jungle. Ordinary citizens live here like Tiki Sam and Henrietta, but pirates have taken it over. These pirates don't look too happy to be here though. Something tells me the situation here is more complicated than it seems. Smee is sitting here in Ventureland, crying on the floor. If anyone would know the situation, it's Captain Hook's right hand man, from "Peter Pan" (1953). (I'm not even going to explain what happens in Peter Pan. It's common knowledge.) Smee tells us that Hook has gone mad and drove his own pirates out of their residence at Tortooga. Hook, who is apparently now a robot, is forcibly putting his men through a bizarre machine he found that roboticizes them. These newly-mechanized pirates are stronger than flesh-and-blood pirates. The ones left have fled to Ventureland, closing the gate behind them so as to keep these robo-pirates from pursuing them here. Smee has also gone through the trouble of taking its key parts and letting the other pirates hold on to them to prevent anyone from forcing it on Smee. A ship's wheel is with the citizen Tiki Sam, the figurehead is with Damien Salt, and Scurvy Pat has the compass. Smee is voiced by Jeff Glen Bennett, who played Drix in "Ozzy & Drix" and Dexter's father in "Dexter's Laboratory." By the way, there are a few pirates left trapped in Tortooga--and even deeper in. If these pirates in sealed-off Ventureland are on edge, those guys are quaking in their boots. If you're wondering what Smee is doing in Wasteland, this is actually proto-Smee. This was a design concept that was never used; the Smee you see in the movie is slightly different in appearance. And if you're wondering what Captain Hook is doing in Wasteland, I'll explain that once we finally reach him. The rest of this video is of Mickey wandering about Ventureland. We pick up the first Tiki Mask (inside the tower with the sealed off gate), speak with Animatronic Daisy, who has the same predicament as Goofy, and pick up the second Tiki Mask (in front of the treehouse). The remaining deeds in Ventureland will be in the next video.
