Around three hundred mourners have paid their respects to Reshat Ametov at his funeral in the Crimean capital of Simferopol on Tuesday. Crimean Tatar Ametov was in his 30s and the father of three children. He disappeared on March 3 when three men in military jackets led him away from the scene of a protest in Simferopol. One of his friends said he had gone into town to enlist for the Ukrainian army. His body was found nearly two weeks later near the town of Belogorsk, 50 km east of Simferopol, naked and showing signs of torture and beating.
