Etude of the Sea

Original Composition by Paul Goldstein.. ETUDE OF THE SEA (2011) The composer lives in a quiet seaside village of rugged beauty, on an island off the coast of western Norway. From throughout the village (and indeed from the composer's living room windows), one can gaze eastwards across the gentle waters of a peaceful bay towards nearby islands and the Norwegian mainland. The bay from a distance appears tranquil and serene, but the sea is never still. No matter how calm may be the surface, there is always motion deep within - a churning energy propelling sea waves, which may be rustled further by a breeze of the wind or the passing of a ship. Calmness and motion present a study in contrasts, an Etude of the Sea.
