Eugene isn't all that hard of fight if you bring in Gre with you. Have Mag use Mach Punch with the other party member also attacking while Gre serves as the healer with its Cheer Up skill. If ever one of your party member falls asleep, use Gre's Wake Up skill. If you don't want to use Gre, bring all your healing items (Naolin) with you. Eugene has about 6000HP.
