Exploration #2 - Centralia, PA

Deep in Pennsylvania is a town sitting on top of a mine that caught fire in 1962, and is still burning. The 47 year fire has caused Centralia to be just a few evictions away from disappearing entirely. The main highway is split down the middle, where fumes rise from the earth below. We stood in the middle of the gaping road and choked on the smoke.
