Manager of the Fab Lab (fabrication laboratory) in Grenoble, Jean-Michel Molenaar is an active member of the "Makers"' movement. He took part to the creation of the first Fab Labs in the Netherlands. He then followed courses from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from Norway. A D.I.Y. expert from the 21st century, Jean-Michel takes part to the development of environments that are fertile to experimentations and learnings - such as Fab Labs, set up by an active global network of "Makers". Through this talk, Jean-Michel explains how the Makers and DIY's movement change the way we learn and teach. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
