If you're a kid and you need something with a little more adventure and excitement, venturing off into the ocean and digging in the sand are excellent alternatives. In the case of the two 6 and 7-year-old boys and their parents that decided to go to Sydney’s popular Maroubra beach, they dug up a lot more than they could have ever bargained for while deciding to spend their time playing in the sand. On Sunday, November 30, 2014, it was the perfect day for a family outing at the beach. It was the last day of the weekend for the 6 and 7-year-old boys before they were scheduled to go back to school, and for their parents to return back to work. Rather than let the beautiful day go to waste, what better way to spend the final day of relaxation and leisure than by heading to the beach? The parents had decided that they wanted to go just to relax before another stressful workweek was set to inevitably start. At first, they considered leaving their two boys home with another family member or finding a sitter, but the boys remained adamant about wanting to join their parents for a nice Sunday beach outing. They explained that there wouldn't be any trouble for their parents if they came along, and that they could simply entertain themselves by digging in the sand and even venturing out into the shallow depths of the ocean. It didn't take much convincing, and after that, the parents loaded everything and everyone into the car, and off they went. What they didn't know about yet, was the fact that this family outing to the beach was about to change their lives, and not necessarily for the better. When they got to the beach, there weren't too many other people there. Most of the time on Sundays, families choose to stay home and relax, venturing off isn't exactly common. The family quickly unloaded all of their beach equipment from their car and made their way onto the beach itself. They managed to snag a really great spot just the right amount of distance away from the water. The boys were too excited to help fully unpack everything, so they took their buckets and shovels, and set off to have some fun digging in the sand. The parents didn't mind one bit as this was supposed to be a fun and relaxing outing for everyone involved, not just them. The boys were casually digging in the sand, when all of a sudden they hit something solid that didn't appear to want to budge. Slowly, they began to uncover the sand around the large mystery object. and once they did, they were completely shocked and horrified with what was looking back up at them. The boys had uncovered what looks like an old looking human body. The body was, of course, lifeless, and had a black and greyish tint around the skin. The face of the body was also very scary and ominous to look at. The boys immediately began screaming for their parents to come and look at the discovery they just made together. When the parents made their way over to where the boys were, they too were completely taken back by what was in front of them. A call to the police was definitely in order and made straight away. When the police arrived at the scene, more and more people had gathered around to see what was happening. The person dug up by the boys couldn't be properly identified right away due to the effect the seawater and sand had on their body, it would have to be taken away for further testing to find out the exact details of what transpired to make the person end up buried in the sand. However, that didn't stop the police from being able to form a hypothesis as to what possibly happened and why. It's believed that the person was perhaps digging a hole or tunnel in the sand by themselves, when all of a sudden the sand above gave way and the hole or tunnel collapsed. This caused whoever was digging the hole or tunnel to get trapped and be unable to breathe due to the sheer amount of sand that came down on top of them. Cases like this have been becoming more and more common as time goes on.
