FBI investigate iCloud breach after celebrity accounts hacked

Reported by: Donna Kirker Morgan The FBI says it will investigate how a hacker got hold of nude photos of celebrities that they say were reportedly deleted from ICloud. Actresses Jennifer Lawrence, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and model Kate Upton are just three of the more than 100 celebrities reportedly exposed online after websites 4-Chan and Reddit said a hacker obtained the nude and semi-nude photos from the Cloud. Harrisburg University Associate Professor Charles Palmer says he was actually surprised at the news, most services that use Clouds are often more secure. However, this hacking event again reminds people that nothing is really secure. €œLook, as soon as you make something digital someone is going to have access to it€ he said. €œUsed to be that you could take racy photos, a polaroid that one copy, but as soon as you digitize that makes it open to anyone on line and there's actually no way to secure it€ To beat the odds, however, make sure the Cloud you use is encrypted. Make those passwords robust, meaning you should have upper and lower case letters, along with a number and a special character. Also, don€™t use the same password for different sites. There is also the option to obtain a two factor authentication to protect your private accounts. Right now, it€™s really not know how the hacker got into the private ICloud accounts. The FBI will look for that answer and find the hacker. Palmers says this should also be a warning to businesses that rely on Clouds to hold private files. €œSame for you and also for big companies, some companies are using Cloud services unprotected to store sensitive information and we should be very wary of those things.€
