This video was actually requested by my mom. We recently lost a close relative of ours and since he was sick for so many years, his wife felt relief upon his passing. Then she said she immediately felt ashamed for having felt that way. If feeling relief a bad thing? Does that mean we didn't love the person? Should we always just feel sad and miss them? What are the real stages of grief?
Those are all questions that I hope this video answers for you. Of course feeling relief when someone has been suffering is normal! No one likes to see those we love suffer or lose a sense of who they are. It doesn't mean that we don't love them, miss them, and wish it could have been different. It simply means that we hated seeing them suffer and are glad they aren't in pain anymore. That's the honest truth! My father was sick for so many years, and not only was it hard on him, but it was really hard on my mom. She lost weight, she was depressed and exhausted all the time. Yes I miss him, terribly, but after watching him slowly die for years, I did feel a bit relieved that he wasn't suffering anymore. I just wanted to create this video to not only shed some light on the normalcy of these feelings, but to also urge those struggling to join a caretakers group. Many hospices and hospitals offer groups to support those dealing with chronic illness or the slow passing of a loved one. We all need a safe place to talk about all the emotions we are going through, and I hope you are all able to find a group in your area. xox Today we talked about, Dying, Therapy, Death, loss and grief.Website http://www.katimorton.comTWITTER http://www.twitter.com/katimortonFACEBOOK http://www.facebook.com/katimorton1TUMBLR http://www.katimorton.tumblr.comPINTEREST http://www.pinterest.com/katimorton1
