Available on DVD from http://www.odeonent.co.uk Ginger Rogers stars in one of her wittiest comedies as Mary, a destitute girl who is found on Fifth Avenue by Mr Borden, a wealthy middle aged industrialist Timothy Borden (Walter Connolly) who is celebrating his birthday alone despite having a family at home. Realising that Mary's need for food and a roof over her head might suit his need to be thought more highly of by his family, Borden asks Mary to act the part of his pretend lover so that his wife will grow jealous and his family will sit up and take notice of him rather than their inheritance. With a scarlet lady in their midst, the whole Borden family begin to mount an open rebellion with daughter Katherine (Kathryn Adams) deciding to elope with a communist chauffeur and son Tim (Tim Holt) falling in love with his father's new beau. Meanwhile Mrs Borden (Verree Teasdale) decides to win her husband back by cooking a beef stew!
