A Filipino Catholic Christmas Tradition... Simbang Gabi! It doesn't matter if you stayed up late doing videoke (funny enough, that was us last night), it doesn't matter if you have work late, it doesn't matter if it is hammering down rain and it doesn't matter if you have lots to do and need energy... For Filipinos who are Catholic, you do whatever you can to complete the Simbang Gabi. This is a traditional early morning mass everyday for 9 days prior to Christmas. It started a long time ago for farmers to allow them to finish mass early and work before it got to hot in the fields. This morning I took Dagul and we both experienced our first ever morning mass for this Filipino Christmas tradition. It was truly amazing to have this experience here at the oldest Chirch in Mindanao found in Jimenez, Misamis Occidental! Also... Regardless if you are religious or not, you can really learn from the devotion and sacrifice. Those are things we can apply to our lives in so many positive ways! Super Apir!
