I created this video with the YouTube Video Editor (http://www.youtube.com/editor)
To get to this jewel, I had to consult with the tourist office in Pego (between Denia and Oliva roughly).
From Pego, see if you can find ALDI supermarket and then carry on straight across a roundabout that leads to the rice fields of Pego. Then, just before you drive up to a big bridge, slow down and drive into a rough road on the left and carry on zigzagging through the rice fields looking a bit to the left where there is a mountain with chalets. You see lots of beautiful birds on the way, too, they don't seem to be afraid of cars! And then, just as you drive over an old narrow stone bridge, there it is - the Font Salada.
A real beauty spot! It seems to be a slightly salty spring that surfaces here and there is a big, natural basin (not unlike a swimming pool) with rocks and seaweed and quite a few fish with big, big eyes. We saw people swimming there, so I thought I try as well and when a lady assured me that the water was 25 degrees Celsius (in October!), I jumped in. It was lovely!
And as you can see on the video, there is also a nice little restaurant on one side. No entrance fee, just a lovely place to visit. We will come back!
