Detectives from the directorate of criminal investigations have arrested former Kenya Power CEO Ben chumo on suspicion of committing economic offences. Arrested alongside Chumo are the KPLC's company secretary Beatrice Meso and the general manager in charge of street lighting Peter Muriithi . The three will be charged with the offence of conspiring to commit economic crimes including fraudulently acquiring public property, abuse of office and failure to comply with the law relating to procurement among other charges. Ben Chumo had just been recently nominated to head the salaries and remuneration commission. DCI says its also hot on the heels of other suspects involved in the transformer scandal at the power company.
