Mark Kabban is the founder and executive director of Youth and Leaders Living Actively (YALLA), the first and only comprehensive program in California that uses soccer to motivate child survivors of war and immigrant youth, to help rebuild their lives through education and eco-therapy programs. For his leadership with YALLA, Mark was named by DoSomething.org as one of the Top 5 Best Young World Changers, and was honored by TakePart.com as one of the 2011 Top Ten Unsung Heroes. More recently, CNN Heroes recognized Mark as a 2012 International Hero for establishing YALLA.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
