Earlier this week, freshman Congressman Andy Harris flipped out because of a one-month waiting period for his federally subsidized health insurance to kick in. Because of this, Democrats sent a letter to the GOP caucus urging them to forego their federal healthcare. Thom talks to two signers of this letter, Congressman Joseph Crowley and Congresswoman Donna Edwards. Then, over 17 million households in the U.S. struggled to put enough food on their tables in 2009. Thom talks about the unraveling social safety nets the U.S. has relied on for decades. Then, Republicans unanimously voted against the Paycheck Fairness Act that would have ended paycheck discrimination of women. Thom talks to Charlotte Hays about whether or not equal pay for women will ever become a reality.
