The Garmin Edge 1000 USB connection is very, very finicky. It requires a fair bit of wiggling to get it to establish a connection between the device and the computer. Often, if you move it or look at it the wrong way, it will disconnect again. ("Disk Not Ejected Properly" on OS X.) Very frustrating.
