Réka lives her life in the fast lane: she studies, blogs as robotgirl_reka and loves being active. She feels especially free whenever she’s running or swimming. When she lost her leg after a car accident in 2014, she chose to look on the bright side: she was alive! Friends and family are important to Réka, but she also wants to show the world that amputees can still have goals – and achieve them. Today, she wears a Genium X3 made by Ottobock. She was previously fitted with a transfemoral prosthesis and the Genium, and her gait was already virtually normal in everyday life and in sports. But now that she wears the Genium X3, she enjoys even greater freedom. For example, the prosthesis is waterproof, which means she can easily shower after exercising. And when she’s out with friends or gets the chance to go swimming spontaneously, she can now join in the fun. Réka expects a lot of herself, so her prosthesis has to be resilient as well. But like Réka’s life, the requirements for her leg prosthesis have changed over time. As an influencer, she uses her robotgirl_reka Instagram account to inspire her followers. Shape your own destiny and find your own unique expression – that’s her motto in life. Réka studies sports management and wants to use sports to bring people together. She is currently completing an internship in a gym where people with and without disabilities are equally welcome. The group inspires her, and the trainer addresses her individual needs. Using the MyMode feature of the Genium X3, she can perform a wide range of movements. For example, she can do TRX squats, drop down effortlessly from a standing position to do push-ups or cycle on an exercise bike. Réka’s transfemoral prosthesis is tailored to her needs. Her orthotics and prosthetics professional (O&P professional) carefully selected the individual components of her prosthesis to provide the best possible support for her needs. People who wear prosthetic devices constantly face challenges in which they have to rely fully on their respective prosthesis. This happens in everyday life in particular, and the prosthetic knee joint plays a key role here. The sensor technology in the Genium X3 and the Genium provides maximum safety and enables people to move particularly intuitively and naturally, even when they walk backwards, climb stairs, or switch between different walking speeds and stride lengths. #Ottobock #GeniumX3 #LegProsthesis
