The 33-year old man had attended a training session given by a Chinese colleague on January 21, said Dr Andreas Zapf, head of the Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety, during a press conference at the Bavarian Ministry for Health and Care. The Chinese employee, a woman from Shanghai, "started to feel sick on the flight home and then went for medical treatment in China and there was a test, a diagnosis for coronavirus that was positive," Dr Zapf said. The man tested positive for the virus on Monday evening and was subsequently admitted to hospital in an isolation ward. The patient, from the town of Starnberg, was said to be doing "very well" according to Dr Clemens Wendtner, chief physician at Munich's Schwabing Clinic. Germany is the second European country after France to confirm its first case of coronavirus. The new strain of coronavirus has killed at least 106 people so far and infected more than 4,500 cases in China alone, with the disease spreading from China to other countries, including the US, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Australia, Nepal, and France. Cases were also reported in Taiwan, Canada, Japan, Malaysia and Vietnam.
