Before the protests began, the country had no civil society, and no real constitution or rule of law to provide a stable framework for the government. Now, there are at least 26 uncensored publications in eastern Libya—this is just one example of the gush of creativity that has catalyzed the uprisings and protests. Ghazi also mentions Mohammed Nabbous, a prominent voice of the revolution, who was shot and killed in Benghazi before the implementation of the no-fly zone. Gheblawi hopes that the death of Nabbous and the efforts of all who are fighting to advance the rebel cause will not be in vain, that they will contribute "to a better future for Libya that is free, democratic, and just."
