In 2012, he was named “Instrumentalist of the Year” by Musical America, which cited the “special kind of humanism” with which his performances are imbued. His more than two dozen concerto and solo CDs have earned awards including Grammys, and have also been classical charts bestsellers. Gil Shaham performs five concerts with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in 2015. He played Barber’s Violin Concerto on Friday June 26, Saturday June 27, and Monday June 29. Then on Friday July 3 and Saturday July 4 he performs Bach works with Adele Anthony.
