Giustina "Lily" D'Angelo Vignone, 89, of South Windsor, beloved wife of the late Frank W. Vignone, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 4, 1925, in Naples, Italy, daughter of the late Luigi and Carmela (Passero) D'Angelo. Giustina immigrated to the U.S. in 1946 and lived in South Windsor for more than 50 years. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in South Windsor. Giustina was the owner and chef of Pizza-Rama in South Windsor, which drew long lines of people for her delicious pies. She had a passion for cooking, and loved her afternoon coffee, long walks, exercising, discussing politics, holidays, and summers vacationing with family on Cape Cod. She treasured every moment. A warm and always cheerful woman, her kind, compassionate nature was apparent to everyone who knew her. She will be remembered for her sharp sense of humor, generosity of spirit, profound faith, and love of life. But more than anything, she will be remembered for her deep devotion to and pride in her family. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her grandchildren and playing with her great-grandchildren; the joy of her life. She leaves her daughters, Joanne Myette Holston and her husband Michael of Venice, FL, Linda Cassarino and her husband Sal of South Windsor, Donna Levack and her husband Rusty of Venice, FL; six grandchildren and their spouses, Cynthia and Fabio Cucuzza, Melissa and Jeff Simmons, Justina and Chris Wazer, Stacie Cassarino, Elizabeth and David Krauser, Jennifer and Marc DiBella; and nine great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Frank Joseph Vignone. The family extends their gratitude to Dr. Susan Peters for her special care.
