A few tips with some cloudsurfing footage.
Huge thanks to Mike O'Neil for his rendition of "Running down a dream" By Tom Petty.
The Lyrics Mikes "Running down a (cloud) Street are-
It was a beautiful day, the sun beat down
I turned the radio off, I was glidin’
Birds flew by, me and The Boss were singin' Runnin’ Down a Dream
I was flyin'
Yeah runnin' down a street
That never would come to me
Workin' on the energy, goin' wherever it leads
Runnin' down a street
I felt so good like anything was possible
I set McReady to three and scanned the skies
The last few days the rain was unstoppable
It was always cold, no sunshine
Yeah runnin' down a street
That never would come to me
Workin' on the energy, goin' wherever it leads
Runnin' down a street
Woo-oo x 6
I flew on as the sky grew dark
I set the speed to fly down, to buy some time
There's something good waitin' down this ridge
And I'm pickin’ up whatever is mine
2 x | Yeah runnin' down a street
| That never would come to me
| Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads
| Runnin' down a street
| 2 x riff
A few words on how this song came to be-
Background: This song was inspired by flying as P2 for Andy Parish (CFI, Yorkshire GC) and Chris Gill (Lleweni Parc Manager and Denbigh Gliding CFI) in the UK 20 metre nationals at Husband Bosworth in July 2018. For the first time in 25 around years, the weather conditions were outstanding enough to fly tasks on all 9 days of the competition. Day 9, the final day, was an outstanding racing day: I can recall a 10 knot climb to over 7000ft on one occasion. As Chris and me raced along to complete 426km at 112kph and come 3rd on the day, this song came to mind and I sang it from the back seat whilst drumming (gently!) on the instrument coaming. ‘The Boss’ referred to in the lyric is Andy Parish as I was principally his P2. But I think Chris qualifies also ? Hope you like it. Mike O’ Neill (on a rainy day in September 2018!)
