My current go-to eye makeup, largely because it’s one of the few ways I can wear a cat-eye shape that actually HIDES the puffy bags under my eyes rather than emphasising them! Also a bit of a basic 101 on smoky black gothy eyeliner – always use shadow as well as liner, always use 2-3 shades of ‘dark’ rather than nothing but black, and for the love of all that’s unholy, use a makeup brush to blend, not a foam applicator - 16-year-old me, I'm looking at you! As mentioned, the lid colour can be anything you like, ditto the little crystals!
Product list:
Skin:
- YSL Matte Touch primer
– Revlon Colourstay foundation in Ivory (combination/oily), mixed with Rio Skin Camouflage white paste to make it lighter
- Kryolan microfoundation cream, MFC 500 (as a highlight only, applied OVER powder a la Goss technique, then powdered again on top - far too greasy to wear as full foundation! Is light-reflecty and very, very pale though, so makes a fabulous highlight – thank god it’s useful for SOMETHING since it was hideously expensive!)
- 17 In The Nude palette, darkest shade, as contour. They’ve gone and bloody discontinued this though, so I need to find a dupe, ASAP!
- Maybelline Dream Matte Powder in Rose Nude (discontinued also, I think, arghh! I have yet to find anything both as pale AND as good quality :( No.7 Translucent powder is pale, but doesn’t fare well on long nights out with multiple reapplications…though I’ve heard good things about Revlon’s photo ready? )
Eyes:
- White Kryolan cake makeup, but any old white shadow will do
- The smoky purple and dark blue-black are both part of a very old Frontcover set. They’re called Twinkling Grape and Black Spark, but I suspect they’re impossible to find now, depressingly! On alternatives, it’s more the depth of colour than the actual *shade* that’s important – you could go for smoky purples, deep blues, dull burgundy, various shades of brown or grey, and with Christmas coming it should be very, very easy to find darker shades with that slight sparkle – it seems to be festive diktat that all eyeshadows must sparkle like snowman shit in December ;)
- Stargazer black eyeshadow
- Maybelline Master Smoky black eyeliner (smudge stick thing)
- Rimmel Glam-Eyes black liquid liner (just on upper lashline)
- Maybelline Master Precise black liquid liner (for the fine detail)
- Collection 100 Glam Crystals silver glitter liner in shade 4, Hustle
- Llamasqua 022 lashes
-Trimits loose red diamante-thingers, smallest size (from a craft store, not makeup store), stuck on with Eyelure lash glue (dries clear)
Lenses:
- Black Geos from Pinky Paradise, available in prescription strength – I’m far too blind to wear plano lenses! :P
Brows:
- Urban Decay Smog and Half Baked shadows
Lips:
- Rimmel Kate Moss lipsticks, 08 (kinda soft nudeish brown), and 113 (pale nude)
- Aigner lip liner L695 (I think – it’s quite worn away! I got a whole set of these for Christmas last year and they’re absolutely amazing, push up cream sticks that blend wonderfully, and I suspect they were very cheap!)
