What role/roles did globalization play in the Modern period?
What events, developments, or examples from that time period clearly demonstrate those roles?
Globalization in the Modern Period is a period marked by intense social and political revolutions that led to the strengthening of the rights of the individual, gave rise to the notion of representative democracy, and catalyzed the global exchange of ideas. A few developments that demonstrate the impact of globalization in the Modern Period include colonization and subsequent decolonization, the United Nations, new communications technologies, the Industrial Revolution, and the British East India Company.
