Hey guys,
In today's video I'll be covering the Essential Phone's most controversial issue, the camera! The Essential Phone PH-1 has some decent camera hardware on paper, however when it comes to the final results the camera of the Essential Phone PH-1 has never been able to deliver.
Initially the camera hardware was believed to be the issue, however as time went on it became apparent that the software was the true issue, not the hardware. Essential has been working hard to fix the camera issues, but they still don't seem to have it down as well as the other OEM's.
Luckily, there have been people that have been able to port the Google camera app onto the Essential Phone PH-1. Those who initially undertook this experiment said that the camera results were night and day! So I decided that I should really give this a shot and decided to side load the Google Camera App on the Essential Phone PH-1.
The app is buggy and is obviously not the end all solution, however it prove a valid point of how software is just as important to producing great photos as hardware is.
Let me know what you guys think about the differences between the two cameras? Do you think that the stock Essential Phone PH-1 camera will be updated to work as good as the Google Camera App on Android Oreo 8.1?
