The Gradient Mesh Tool might look complicated, but once you start using it, you can't stop! I created another Illustrator speedart tutorial, this time I'm creating a realistic looking rose with the gradient mesh tool in Illustrator CC. The gradient mesh tool really helps to create those realistic looking shadows and highlights and the fun part is seeing it all come together.
