Growing a Beard with Minoxidil?

So some of you might remember that I tried and failed to grow a beard a while ago. It didn't grow very well, I have alright moustache and goatee coverage but other than that it's abysmal. I've recently discovered a whole community of people who've found what may be the solution: Minoxidil (sometimes sold under the brand Rogaine). Minoxidil is a solution for people who have male pattern baldness, as it can help restore the hair by bringing increased blood flow to the area when applied topically. People have found it can also help dormant hair follicles grow in the beard area, filling in a patchy beard, if applied there. So, I've decided to give it a try for myself. I'll be giving Minoxidil a go for anywhere from 6 to 18 months, and seeing what happens. Will I grow a full beard? Will it still be a patchy mess?
